SYNOPSIS
A short film documenting Guo’s conversation with American avant-garde musician and filmmaker Laurie Anderson during the Locarno Film Festival.
The entire film is composed of black and white still photos with Xiaolu’s idiosyncratic voice over.
The subject of the film is a book that both Xiaolu and Laurie admire - Capitalist Realism, by the late British Marxist theorist Mark Fisher (who appears in Guo’s 2013 documentary Late At Night).
The film is in memory of Fisher (1968-2017) and his incisive critique of British society.
